In celebration of the Nutrition Month and to instill in the children the importance of proper handwashing amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) organized a feeding and handwashing activity in Barangay Casili, Consolacion town.

More than 100 children aged six to ten participated in the activity recently held at the barangay’s covered court.

MCWD’s Corporate Planning Head Engr. John Neville Macabinta, who represented MCWD on behalf of Acting General Manager Engr. Stephen Yee, said that it is better to instill a good habit while they are still young because it will lead them to the right path as they grow up.

The children participated in a handwashing demonstration using clean water and soap before the feeding activity started.

They were made to understand that to avoid illnesses, eating nutritious food and regular handwashing are very important.

The activity was done in celebration of the Nutrition Month in July with the theme “New normal na nutrisyon, sama-samang gawan ng solusyon.” The celebration calls for nutrition interventions and improvement while facing the Covid-19 pandemic.

Barangay Councilor Adonis Cuizon attended the event and expressed his gratitude to MCWD. Barangay nutrition scholar and health workers prepared the food served during the feeding activity.

Consolacion is one of the municipalities served by MCWD. Two of the water district’s reservoirs with a capacity of 5,000 cubic meters are located in the municipality, specifically in Barangay Casili.
