Some 960 households more in Barangays Lawaan 1, 2 and 3 will enjoy the safe, potable and affordable water from the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) with its newly commissioned well in Lawaan 3, Talisay City. The well yields 960 cubic meters per day and can serve about 3,150 individuals. This is based on a five member household count.

Well 2.5 is an in-house water supply development project of MCWD as part of its short term solutions in addressing the shortage of water supply in the area. It was constructed on a lot bought by the water district from a private individual for the purpose. More in-house wells will soon be drilled within Talisay City in collaboration with the city government of Talisay to address the water demand of the city.

Aside from developing in-house wells, the MCWD Board of Directors approved the publication for competitive bidding for bulk water supply using seawater desalination. MCWD will embrace into desalination as part of its medium-term solution considering that groundwater source could not meet the growing demand within its service area.
