Fire victims in Sitio Palsey Side, Sambag 2 use MCWD’s free water supply free for one month.

TO ALLEVIATE the burden that they have to face, the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD) is giving free water to victims of a big fire that left more than 70 families homeless in Sitio Palsey Side in Sambag 2, Cebu City on February 25.

MCWD installed a communal faucet at the area accessible to the victims so they can use the water supply for free for one month.

MCWD provides free water to victims of big fire within its service area as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Felicisima Martorillas, who was at home with her husband when the fire broke out, said they have not saved anything except for her dog.

“Nasunog pod apil among hose sa tubig. Dako nga tabang ang tubig nga libre gikan sa MCWD kay naa koy magamit paglimpyo ug laba sa mga nasalin sa sunog,” Martorillas said.

Her neighbor, Pastora Puza, also had the same sentiments after her house and sari-sari store were reduced to ashes by the raging fire. Puza said she is thankful that even if they have no electricity yet, they have clean water supply from MCWD.

“Naay mga batan-on diri anhi mangaligo sa inyong tubig. Kami sa akong anak ug akong tenant nga nagpuyo sa akong balay naa pod magsawod sa inyong tubig,” Puza said.

MCWD ensures that the water supply provided is also safe for drinking.
